(Richmond) – Nathaniel L. Bishop, Chair of the Virginia State Board for Community Colleges, released the following statement today regarding the search process for hiring the next VCCS Chancellor:
“As our Board works to conclude the confidential process by which we seek to hire a transformational leader to serve as the chancellor of Virginia’s Community Colleges, we are grateful for the support and attention Governor Glenn Youngkin and his Administration are giving our efforts. We share the Governor’s desire to hire a chancellor who collaborates with the Administration in addressing Virginia’s postsecondary workforce training needs; program planning and transparency; and expanding educational opportunity for all learners.
“Our professional and confidential hiring process has reviewed dozens of applicants from across the nation and seeks to identify three finalists from which our Board will select the next chancellor. We look forward to meeting with the Governor soon to discuss that process, the finalists and their qualifications, and the steps our community colleges are taking to connect those who want careers with family-sustaining salaries and benefits with Virginia businesses who eagerly seek skilled, trained employees to hire.”
