Get ready for hugs. After a two-year hiatus caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, in-person graduations are back on this spring at Virginia’s Community Colleges. Some colleges will invite graduates from the pandemic years to march with this year’s class. Others will hold separate events for those that missed out in 2020 and 2021. Preparations for the events are well underway, and we’ve collected some essential information about schedules. Links to graduation information are embedded in college names.
Blue Ridge Community College – Commencement is scheduled for May 14 at 10:00 a.m. Graduates must arrive by 9:15 a.m. and check-in at the desk in F-building.
Paul D. Camp Community College – The college will hold its 51st Annual Commencement Ceremony at 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 13 at Camp’s Regional Workforce Development Center in Franklin. Camp will also livestream its commencement ceremony via its YouTube channel.
Central Virginia Community College – CVCC will hold its spring commencement ceremonies May 12 at 7:00 p.m. at Vines Center at Liberty University
Danville Community College – DCC Commencement will be held Saturday, May 14 at 10:00 a.m. in person at Averett University North Campus — Daly Field at Frank R. Campbell Stadium.
Dabney S. Lancaster (becoming Mountain Gateway) Community College – DSLCC’s annual commencement exercises will be held Friday, May 13, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Convocation Center on the main campus in Clifton Forge.
Eastern Shore Community College – Commencement will be held Wednesday, May 11 at 6:00 p.m. on ESCC’s campus. It will be a ticketed event for family.
Germanna Community College – Germanna’s Spring commencement events will be May 10 at the University of Mary Washington Anderson Center. Health Technologies Pinning Ceremony will be at 3:00 p.m. and the Commencement Ceremony will be at 7:00 p.m. Live streaming will be available for those that can’t attend.
John Tyler (becoming Brightpoint) Community College – Tyler is planning two in-person ceremonies. A graduation celebration for the classes of 2020 and 2021 who did not get to enjoy an in-person event will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 13. A graduation ceremony for the Class of 2022 will begin at 4:30 p.m. that same day. Both ceremonies will be held at the VSU Multipurpose building. Both will be live streamed for those who are unable to attend.
Lord Fairfax (becoming Laurel Ridge) Community College – Health Professions Commencement and Pinning Ceremonies will be held Friday, May 13. College Commencement Ceremonies Saturday, May 14. All on LFCC Middletown campus.
Mountain Empire Community College – Graduation is Friday, May 13, 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., 3441 Mountain Empire Road, Big Stone Gap.
New River Community College – Three ceremonies are planned: Wed. May 11 6:00 p.m. – Associate Degree, Nursing. Friday, May 13, 4:00 p.m. Division of Business and Technologies (fall 2021-summer 2022 graduates.) Friday, May 13, 7:00 p.m. Division of Arts & Sciences (Fall 2021-summer 2022 graduates.) All ceremonies will be live streamed.
Northern Virginia Community College – Sunday, May 15 at 3:00 p.m. at the Eagle Bank Arena on the Fairfax campus of George Mason University.
Patrick Henry (becoming Patrick & Henry) Community College – Conducting an in-person graduation on May 14 at 10:00 a.m. in Stone Hall Gym on campus. Event will be live streamed on college Facebook page.
Piedmont Virginia Community College – PVCC graduation will be held at UVA’s John Paul Jones Arena Friday, May 13 at 6:00 p.m. Nursing program pinning will be that afternoon at 1 p.m., also at John Paul Jones Arena. The entire week includes various pinnings and awards ceremonies.
Rappahannock Community College – With limited capacity and parking at Essex High School in Tappahannock, RCC is offering two commencement ceremonies to accommodate families. Ceremonies will be at 7:00 p.m. on May 12 and May 13. Nurse Pinning & Commencement, May 13 at 4:00 p.m.
Reynolds Community College – The spring 2022 Reynolds Commencement Ceremony will take place on Sunday, May 15, 2:00 p.m. at the VCU Siegel Center.
Southside Virginia Community College – Saturday, May 14, 9:30 a.m. Christanna Campus – 109 Campus Drive, Alberta.
Southwest Virginia Community College – Southwest’s graduation will be held on Friday, May 13 at 6:00 p.m. It will also be live streamed online.
Thomas Nelson (becoming Virginia Peninsula) Community College – Classes of 2020 and 2021 are invited to join the class of 2022 as TNCC holds graduation exercises at 5:00 p.m. Monday, May 16 Hampton’s Liberty Live Church on Big Bethel Road.
Tidewater Community College – TCC is holding its second in-person Commencement since the start of the pandemic. This spring’s graduation ceremony will be held on May 9 at 6:00 p.m. at the Chartway Arena on the campus of Old Dominion University.
Virginia Highlands Community College – Three students of the graduating class of 2022 will join the faculty and staff in leading several commencement ceremonies on Friday, May 13 in the Joseph P. Johnson, Jr., Grand Hall of the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center on the VHCC campus. Ceremonies at 2:30 p.m., 5:00 p.m., and 7:30 p.m.
Virginia Western Community College – VWCC will hold its graduation ceremony May 13 at the Berglund Center (formerly known as the Roanoke Civic Center). The ceremony will honor graduates from the fall 2021 and spring and summer 2022 semesters and starts at 6:30 p.m.
Wytheville Community College – WCC will hold three separate ceremonies on May 14. Health Professions Programs will begin at 12:30 p.m.; Occupational Programs at 3:30 p.m.; Transfer Programs will begin at 6 p.m. All will be at the Wytheville Meeting Center, adjacent to the WCC Wytheville Campus.t
