Cisco Network Administration, Certificate

This career studies certificate prepares students for a career in CISCO computer networking systems. Students will complete courses in topics like python, networking, linux, and project management; industry certifications can be evaluated for credit toward this program.

In this career studies certificate, accounting students work with computerized accounting applications and online research tools to develop the problem-solving and technical skills required to work in the public and private sectors through a series of nine required courses. Graduates are prepared for careers in areas such as accounting, accounts receivable/payable, bookkeeping, cost accounting, and payroll.

Advanced Medical Coder, Certificate

This career studies certificate prepares students with practical experience and technical knowledge for work in medical records; to enroll in the five required courses, students must be certified in coding by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA – CCA or CCS) or the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC or CPC). Students must complete ITE 152 or pass a computer competency exam.

Business Management, Certificate

This career studies certificate is designed for the student who desires to open or improve a business or is a supervisor eager to increase their skills. Work with an advisor to apply these credits to an associate degree.

Business Principles, Certificate

This career studies certificate is designed to introduce students to a variety of skills for the business workplace. Students will take four courses in business and accounting. These courses could be applied toward a degree when working closely with an advisor.

Accounting Specialist, Certificate

This program prepares students for entry-level employment in accounting or enhancement of existing skills for a more advanced position through the completion of 14 courses. In addition, this curriculum will also provide students with the accounting courses needed to meet the education requirements of the Virginia Board for Accountancy to sit for the Certified Public Accountancy (CPA) examination. Those with a bachelor’s degree in Business should work with an advisor to determine how credits can be applied to this certificate.

Accounting Technician, Certificate

These courses prepare students who already hold a degree for entry-level employment in the accounting field, for career advancement, or for certification exams. Students with a bachelor’s degree who are seeking this program for career advancement should contact an advisor when choosing courses in this career studies certificate.

Acquisition and Procurement, Certificate

This career studies certificate prepares students for employment or advancement in acquisition and procurement positions. The nine required courses cover contract law, pricing, negotiations, and similar processes within this field.
