Over the course of five semesters, this career studies certificate prepares students to work as an interpreter in a variety of settings such as education, medical or legal. All courses are focused on supporting the student in understanding deaf culture to effectively communicate using American Sign Language. This career studies certificate prepares students with practical experience and technical knowledge for work in medical records; to enroll in the five required courses, students must be certified in coding by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA – CCA or CCS) or the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC or CPC). Students must complete ITE 152 or pass a computer competency exam.
