Designed for students who plan to transfer to a four-year college or university to pursue a bachelor’s degree in one of the social or behavioral sciences, students complete courses in topics such as math, biology, written and oral communication, history, Spanish, ethics, and psychology. Transfer students should work closely with an advisor to ensure successful transfer into the student’s institution of choice.

Release of Health Information Specialist (Health Information Management), Certificate

This career studies certificate prepares students for work in medical records. The seven required courses include the study of laws, medical terminology, billing, documentation, health care, and technology.

Health Science, AS

This program can provide a community college career pathway for students seeking health careers requiring a bachelor’s degree or higher. This curriculum requires 20-21 general and specialized courses in the social sciences, the humanities, written and oral communication, as well as health and science. Students should work closely with an advisor to choose the best transfer degree and ensure credits transfer successfully.

Health Sciences I, Certificate

This career studies certificate is designed for the student who desires to pursue allied health programs at many community colleges of choice, including nursing programs, and who wishes to apply this certificate to a degree When considering transfer to other schools, students should verify transferability of the courses in this program by working with an advisor to develop a plan for transfer.

Health Sciences II, Certificate

This career studies certificate is designed for the student who desires to pursue allied health programs at many community colleges of choice, including nursing programs, and who wishes to apply this certificate to a degree When considering transfer to other schools, students should verify transferability of the courses in this program by working with an advisor to develop a plan for transfer.

Advanced Medical Coder, Certificate

This career studies certificate prepares students with practical experience and technical knowledge for work in medical records; to enroll in the five required courses, students must be certified in coding by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA – CCA or CCS) or the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC or CPC). Students must complete ITE 152 or pass a computer competency exam.
