This program rewards professionals for technical skills and professional experience already mastered with up to 23 of the 60 credits required for the degree. Upon entry into this flexible program, individuals will enroll in a course co-taught by TCC and Old Dominion University faculty to determine how much academic credit can be awarded for those skills. An academic dean will help fill the gap with college classes that align with individual professional goals if additional coursework is needed.

This program prepares technicians to handle quality assurance issues and monitor industry and/or manufacturing company production operations. Graduates are prepared for promotion to supervisory technical positions and can certify through the American Society for Quality (ASQ); this program is designed to produce graduates who can manage, plan, design, and maintain effective quality control programs for a variety of industries through skills learned in the 22 required courses.

This program prepares students to work with electronic systems like computer equipment, industrial instrumentation, micro-controllers, test equipment, and industrial control devices through coursework and on-site training or a project seminar. Through 21 courses in such topics as electronics, robotics, networking, help desk support, hacking as well as communication and math, students can earn this applied sciences degree and be ready for immediate employment. Students who wish to transfer should work closely with an advisor when choosing electives and math courses.

This career studies certificate emphasizes land and field surveying practices and office techniques, as well as utilizing a variety of instruments including levels, total stations, and GPS units. Graduates of this program, through the nine civil engineering courses and two required math courses, will be prepared for an entry-level position in the surveying field and to take the Fundamentals of Surveying (FS) examination.
