Students will finish this program with a certificate in Computer Applications while obtaining an associate degree in Information Systems Technology. Students who are considering transfer into a bachelor’s degree must coordinate with advisors for successful transfer. Students with IT courses less than TEN years old may be able to apply those courses to this program.

The Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts lays the foundation for various online pathways to a Bachelor of Arts degree in art and art history, ASL-English Interpretation, communication, Deaf studies, English/literature, history, humanities, journalism, music, philosophy, pre-law, social sciences, speech-language pathology, religious studies, and world languages. Students take 20 classes in which they foster abilities in analytical and critical thinking, written and oral communication, and understanding global cultural awareness through a combination of sign language courses, elective courses, and general education courses. Students interested in this course of study should be comfortable communicating with the instructor and classmates using live and recorded video to practice skills.

This career studies certificate prepares students with practical experience and technical knowledge for work in medical records; to enroll in the five required courses, students must be certified in coding by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA – CCA or CCS) or the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC or CPC). Students must complete ITE 152 or pass a computer competency exam.
