Governor McAuliffe Shines Light on Community Colleges in Inaugural Address

In the inaugural post of the new blog series “Workforce Wednesday,” Chief of Staff to the Virginia Workforce Council and Workforce Development manager at Virginia’s Community Colleges, Paula Dehetre, reflects on the inauguration of Governor McAuliff and what it means to the landscape of workforce development in the Commonwealth.


It was certainly an honor and privilege to sit in the rain-soaked bleachers this past Saturday as a witness to the Inauguration of the Commonwealth’s 72nd Governor Terry McAuliffe.


As I explained to my teenage son and daughter, the ceremony was an opportunity to experience history in the making. Attendees included a former U.S. President and Secretary of State, former Governors (8 of which I have served), the sitting U.S. Senators that represent Virginia, state legislators and numerous dignitaries.
