Don “Robin” Sullenberger takes the gavel as VCCS State Board chair in July and brings a wealth of experience in economic development, education and local government. He succeeds Eleanor Saslaw as part of the board’s scheduled leadership succession.
Sullenberger says he intends to focus on implementing steps to reverse several years of enrollment declines across Virginia’s Community Colleges. He says his other main priority is seeing progress in the Complete 2021 goal of tripling credentials granted by our colleges statewide.
Susan Gooden, a public policy professor at VCU (and PHCC graduate) will become vice-chair of the VCCS Board.
Adnan Bokhari of Arlington also joins the VCCS Board during the July meeting, appointed to a four-year term by Governor Ralph Northam. Bokhari is COO and CFO of Prosperity Now, a national nonprofit dedicated to ensuring everyone has a path to financial stability and prosperity.
The VCCS Board next meets July 18-19 at Germanna Community College.
