Once again, Virginia’s Community Colleges are marking national Community College Awareness Month (CCAM) in April with a social media campaign designed to raise awareness of the benefits of attending one of our 23 community colleges.

Aimed at high-school students and their parents, as well as adults looking for a career change or enhanced job skills, this year’s CCAM content is based around three hashtags — #SlashStudentDebt, #WhoKnew? and #FindYourFuture — and features colorful, informative infographics to grab the reader’s attention. Each infographic includes space for colleges to customize the infographic with its logo.

So Why Does This Matter?

As we face another year of declining enrollment, it is more important than ever that others figure out what we employees already know — that Virginia’s Community Colleges are a great place to:
•Get a top-quality education at an affordable rate
•Figure out your personal and professional goals
•Experience the personalized attention of great faculty and small class sizes
•Take college classes while still in high school
•Obtain an associate degree before transferring to a four-year university
•Earn credit for prior learning for military and veteran students, and so much more.

In other words, we want all Virginians to consider Virginia’s Community Colleges as a smart path toward meeting their higher education and/or career goals.

You Can Help Too!

At least twice every week during April, new content will be posted on both the colleges and System Office’s social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, etc.). We kindly ask staff and students to join the campaign by sharing the content on your own personal social channels. Just check your college or system office’s Facebook and Twitter feeds to help us spread the word!
