VCCS Workforce Development Services member Valaryee Mitchell was recently elected to serve on the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP) board as the Region 3 representative. This is a significant opportunity for Virginia’s community of front-line workers, given Mitchell’s 13-plus years of experience in local case management and operations, and her current role as statewide coordinator for one-stop centers. She has the knowledge and passion to advocate for what workforce professionals really need. And now, Mitchell has the national platform.
As one of the nation’s premier associations for individual practitioners in workforce development, NAWDP is likely to play a key role when the Department of Labor begins to develop its guidance and regulations on the newly signed (and long overdue!) Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). The devil is always in the details when it comes to implementation of public policy. But front-line workers in Virginia and all of Region 3 can rest assured that Mitchell will be an angel advocate for the people working to provide the very best services to job seekers and business customers. #WIOA #eleVAte
