Yohannes A. Abraham


Yohannes A. Abraham was appointed to the State Board by Governor Terry McAuliffe to begin a four-year term effective July 1, 2017.

Abraham serves as a Senior Advisor at The Barack Obama Foundation. Previously, he served in the White House as Deputy Assistant to the President, Senior Advisor to the National Economic Council, and Chief of Staff for the Office of Public Engagement & Intergovernmental Affairs. During his time at the White House, Abraham’s team was focused on building state and local partnerships around economic issues facing working families. He has also served as the National Political Director for Organizing for America, Deputy National Political Director on the Obama-Biden re-election campaign, and Virginia Field Director on the Obama-Biden 2008 campaign.

Abraham received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Yale College and is a native of Springfield, Virginia.
