Susan Tinsley Gooden, Vice Chair

Susan Tinsley Gooden, Vice Chair


Susan Tinsley Gooden is currently employed as a professor of public administration and policy at the Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs at VCU. She also serves as executive director of the Grace E. Harris Leadership Institute.

She has previously worked as an associate professor at Virginia Tech and as a research evaluator at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.

A graduate of Patrick Henry Community College, Gooden earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees a Virginia Tech. She would later obtain her doctorate in political science from Syracuse University.

Gooden has received numerous awards and honors during her academic career including appointment as a Messick Scholar from the School of Public Policy and Administration at the University of Delaware and a Chester A. Newland Presidential Citation of Merit from the American Society of Public Administration.

Gooden, a life member of the NAACP, currently resides in Richmond.
