Virginia's Community Colleges align education and economic development to extend workforce development courses, training and programs into the community. WDS prepares the emerging workforce by providing students with greater access to career options; serves employers through flexible and customized training; and, offers portable skills and credentials to the the incumbent and displaced workforce. Last year, more than 234,000 people benefitted from workforce programs and services across the Commonwealth.
The Workforce Development Advisory Council serves as an advisory body to the Vice Chancellor of Workforce Development Services (WDS) on system-wide matters related to credit and non-credit workforce instruction/services and to economic and community development.
