Tech Prep’s mission is to develop, improve, and promote career pathways for the emerging workforce that lead to high demand, high wage careers.
Tech Prep career pathways begin in high school and contain an integrated curriculum of core academics and career and technical education that continues through an associate degree, industry certification or licensure or registered apprenticeship. Tech Prep Career Pathways include:

The Tech Prep program is provided at all 23 Virginia community colleges. In the 2006-2007 academic year, Tech Prep enrolled over 19,083 students in postsecondary career pathways and helped provide 50,000 students with career coaching, 11,557 studenst with work-site learning experiences such as internships and service learning, and 6,787 students with certification preparation and examindations.
