State Board Agenda for July 2007 Business Meeting
State Board for Community Colleges meets July 19 at 9 a.m. in Richmond.

RICHMOND – The State Board for Community Colleges will convene its regular meeting on Thursday, July 19, 2007, at 9 a.m. on the 15th Floor of the James Monroe Building, 101 N. 14th Street, Richmond.
 
Committees for the State Board will meet on Wednesday, July 18, also in the James Monroe Building. The Academic, Student Affairs and Workforce Development Committee and the Budget and Finance Committee will meet at 1:30 p.m.; the Facilities Committee and the Audit Committee will meet at 3 p.m.; the Personnel Committee meets at 3:30 p.m. and the Executive Committee will meet following the Facilities and Personnel committees.
 
Agenda items include:
 
Academic, Student Affairs & Workforce – The State Board will take action on a proposed associate’s degree of applied science in emergency medical services from SVCC, proposed changed to the VCCS Policy Manual and programs eligible for endowment matching programs. Additional changes to the policy manual, a new certificate in fire science at GCC and the VCCS student leadership conference will also be discussed.
 
Facilities – The State Board will take action on proposals to demolish three storage buildings on the Chester Campus of JTCC, create temporary space for maintenance facility officers at CVCC, and preliminary drawings of the ISC building renovation at VHCC. Discussion will also be held on acquiring property near DCC, a preliminary drawing review of the Corron Community Development Center at LFCC’s Middletown Campus, and expanding the TCC Virginia Beach Campus student center to add a bookstore.
 
Budget and Finance – The State Board will discuss the VCCS 2008 session budget request and SCHEV Six Year Plans.
 
Personnel Committee – The State Board will discuss the HR agenda action plan for 2007.
 
Chancellor’s Report – The 2007-2009 Chancellor’s Commonwealth Professorship recipients Ms. Linda McLintock, GCC assistant professor of English and Dr. James O’Brien, TCC professor of psychology will be recognized, as will the recipients of the 2007 Chancellor’s Classified Staff Fellowship, Ms. Terry Drumheller, from RCC, and Ms. Maria Nieto-Shahsavarian from NVCC. Chancellor Glenn Dubois will give his final report on the system’s 2006-07 goals and his initial report on the 2007-2008 goals.
