Developmental Education Professional Development
In support of the Virginia Community College System’s strategic plan Achieve 2015 and student success, the VCCS is engaged in an extensive redesign of the developmental mathematics and English courses. Spring 2012 marked the first semester of full implementation of the developmental math redesign. Spring 2013 will be the first semester of full implementation of the redesigned English courses which feature the integration of reading and writing.
In spring 2012, the VCCS Office of Professional Development embarked upon an effort to meet the professional development needs of developmental mathematics, English, and SDV instructors. A “Quick Track program” launched in February 2012 featured 2 webinars for Developmental Math and 2 webinars for English instructors. This page is a portal for the recordings of those webinars as well as supporting materials. These are offered in the spirit of generosity by VCCS faculty for use by others in the system and are included under the math and English links below. This will be supplemented with Student Development materials in the future.
