And for the rest of you, we are pleased to announce that all overflow rooms will be at the Roanoke Plaza Hotel (formerly the Wyndham and soon to be Sheraton). Since changing hands, the hotel has been completely rennovated and upgraded. Rooms are $96/night with free high speed Internet and parking included, and a standard 72-hour cancellation policy. We will also have a dedicated shuttle service running between the Hotel Roanoke and Roanoke Plaza for the duration of the conference. For cost savings,covered connectivity and flexibility, some folks may find that to be the winning ticket—call now!

Shuttle Information

This year's free door-to door shuttle service is being provided by Roanoke Airport Transportation. All vehicles will be white 15 passenger vans with identifying signage in the windows. The shuttles will run continuously between just the two hotels. You should never experience more than a 15-minute wait for a ride.

Pick up and drop off point for the Roanoke Plaza will be in the main entrance. You are welcome to wait in the hotel's lobby.

Pick up and drop off point for the Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center will be the North Entry Courtyard, outside the New Horizons registration desk.

Wednesday, April 1, 2009 - Shuttle service commences at 10:30 am from the Roanoke Plaza. Final Pick up at the Hotel Roanoke and Conference center will be 7:15 pm.

Thursday, April 2, 2009 - Shuttle service commences at 6:30 am from the Roanoke Plaza. Final Pick up at the Hotel Roanoke and Conference center will be 11:15 pm following the dance party in Pocohontas B.

Friday, April 3, 2009 - Shuttle service commences at 6:30 am from the Roanoke Plaza. Final Pick up at the Hotel Roanoke and Conference center will be 12:15 pm following the closing ceremony.

VCCS policy regarding housing for New Horizons is:

The VCCS room rate for 2009 at Hotel Roanoke is $126 for single or double occupancy.
The VCCS room rate for 2009 at the Roanoke Plaza is $96 for single and $106 double occupancy.
The VCCS will cover one night’s lodging and tax for every employee whose campus is 50 or more miles from Roanoke, full-time and adjunct alike.
Employees who share a room are entitled to two nights’ coverage (one night per employee). The name of the roommate must be listed with the hotel.
Employees who book as a single are responsible for the second night’s accommodations themselves.
Please be aware of the Hotel Roanoke’s strict cancellation policy! After Monday March 9, 2009 at 4:00pm. one night’s room and tax is non-refundable. If you need to cancel your room, your credit card will be charged one night’s room and tax. (If you must cancel, do so before March 9, 2009 at 4:00pm to avoid a charge to your personal credit card.)
Roanoke Plaza employs a 72-hour cancellation policy.
